ABOUT HSR - WHO CAN ATTEND?

The Haliburton Scout Reserve is open for camping - week long or weekends - for Scout Troops, Venturer Companies, Rover Crews, the equivalent Guiding, Boy Scouts of America or international Scouting units, and groups of Leaders.

Special arrangements may be made to accommodate groups other than those mentioned above by contacting the Central Ontario Admin Centre.

SUMMER CAMPING

Kennabi Lake Camping
Kennabi Lake has sixteen campsites around its shoreline and seven on islands, which are set up for Troop-style camping. They may be used by Scout Troops, Venturer Companies, Rover Crews or their equivalents. All but two of these sites (Twister Point and Rover's Rest) are accessible only by water. Bookings are normally made for Saturday afternoon to the following Saturday morning. Check out the "Availability" page for details of sites and vacancies.

Hurst Lake Camping
Located in the north/central area of the Reserve, Hurst Lake is a great site for an experienced Troop or Company that would prefer a more isolated camping experience yet still be able to take advantage of program at H.S.R. For more information on camping at Hurst Lake, click here

SPRING, FALL AND WINTER CAMPING

Please check with the Camping Department for spring and fall camping fees.

Troop Camping
The Reserve is available, on a limited basis, for use by groups for some spring and fall camping. The seasons extend from Labour Day (first weekend in September) to the Canadian Thanksgiving Day Weekend (mid-October). The two campsites on the north shore of Lake Kennabi (Twister and Rover's Rest), Hurst, Drag and Mislaid Lake campsites are available. Patrols, Companies and Crews may be accommodated in certain Rental Cabins. No formal program is currently offered during the spring, fall and winter.

Please Note: Snowmobiles and All Terrain Vehicles are NOT permitted on the property without special permission from the Director of Camping at the Greater Toronto Council Scout Office and boats brought into camp must meet certain requirements to protect from the importation of unwanted species.
