WOOD BADGE
Part I
What is a Wood Badge
Part I?
The Basic Wood Badge
Part I is a course set by the National Adult Development
team to provide a new scouter or a scouter transferring to
a new section with a core set of skills needed to be a
contributing member of the leadership team.
How do I enroll?
There are many "Part I" courses offered
throughout the year. Some are residential running from
Friday night to Sunday afternoon. Some also occur on
weekends, but are an easy commute allowing the
participants to return home each evening. Others are
held on weeknights. Check the "Home" page of this site
to track what courses are offered. Once you have decide
which course fits with your schedule then click on the
"Online Registration" button at the top of this page.
Alternatively you can call the Training Department at
the Central Ontario Admin Centre and register.

Do I have to take
the course?
Every Scouter agrees to complete their Wood Badge
Part I within the first year of joining a group or a
transferring to a new section when they register.
Although there are some rare exceptions the only way to
qualify for a Wood Badge Part I is by successfully
completing a course.
