Welcome to the TrailsCanada Inventory
Program
TrailsCanada is inviting the Scouts community
to contribute to its extensive online inventory of public and private trails
located in regions across the country – currently more than 4,000. The
TrailsCanada Inventory Program promotes active outdoor living while
encouraging you to have fun and learn along the way. To help you get started, we have prepared a
manual specifically for this initiative with Scouts Canada. The manual will
act as a guide to help you collect valuable information for trail users and
trail builders who use the trails inventory, information that is required
when you submit a trail to our online inventory.
The manual, which is broken into five
sections, and will help you identify all the information that you need to
collect. It also provides templates and worksheets that will be helpful in
guiding you through the data collection stage.
To download a copy of the manual,
click here. View the web site at
http://www.trailscanada.com. After you have collected your information on
the trail, enter it into the TrailsCanada database. Once this has been
accepted by the TrailsCanada Coordinator as an “Enhanced” listing, and your
trail has been made visible to the public, the members of the contributing
Cub, Scout, Venturers, and Rovers group may receive a special “TrailsCanada
Trail Inventory” crest. The goals of the TrailsCanada Inventory
Program are both to improve the quantity and quality of Web-based
recreational paths available to the public, and to provide a focused reason
for scouts and other young people to be outside on trails, hiking and
biking. With your participation, you will contribute to our goal of listing
10,000 trails across |
